KnitSprite is a passion project that’s all about sharing the love of knitting. Started in 2013 as an outlet for selling handknits, KnitSprite eventually evolved to include original designs, education, pattern publishing, yarn dying, and more. Every product is an opportunity to connect people with knitting, whether that’s through teaching others to knit, helping a handknit find its forever home, or inspiring knitters to make beautiful things with yarn. Moreover, it’s about revitalizing the craft. In the 21st century, knitting is an extension of a knitter’s personality. It is wearable art.

Our goal is to connect with people through the art of knitting.

From the materials we use to the products we offer, quality is the key ingredient. Our handmade products are made with natural fibres and our patterns go through rigorous editing and testing processes. We work to provide the quality that we would want for ourselves.

Knitting is our creative outlet. Everything from our designs, to our colour choices, even our approach is infused with a spirit of creativity. We take inspiration from the world around us (and sometimes even the fantasy worlds!) to create fun and unique products.

We make things that you can use. Far too many handknits sit unworn, patterns unknit, and accessories abandoned for our liking. Our goal is to provide knitters and knitting enthusiasts with products and services that are both practical and beautiful.

Katie is a knitting and yarn enthusiast turned designer who loves to spread the joy of knitting to others through elegant, contemporary patterns.

Katie’s adventures with yarn began during her second year of studying Music History & Literature, Performance, and Education. What started as a method for managing stress quickly became a passion and creative outlet. In 2017, Katie began focusing on design work, self-publishing patterns on Ravelry and and contributing to three Knit Picks Collections, with no intentions of slowing down!

Currently, Katie lives and works in Newfoundland, Canada with her partner (Matthew), a pup named Maggie, and a cat named Nermal. When she’s not knitting, you’ll most likely find her reading, sewing, or napping.
